Amazing Daisies^® 'Banana Cream' Shasta Daisy Leucanthemum superbum

Beautiful! I don’t understand the heat comments. Most things in harsh zones require a little protection and will wane when the heat wave of summer hits. It’s been in the 90s in North Texas for a couple weeks and this plant it is on its second year getting full midday sun; it shows zero stress and is putting on the most beautiful show. (I fully understand she won’t be blooming when we get weeks of continuous 100°+, it’s survival mode for all of us.) planning on buying more!

I purchased two of these the summer of 2021. I was in awe of the color and they were highly recommended online and in the "Gardener's Idea" book I received. Like many others I was terribly disappointed that they did not come back. I was intentionally purchasing more perennials for my garden to save on planting time and money. I was super bummed. Maybe the new color will be more hardy.

I purchased 12 of these and planted them last summer. They were beautiful and I was looking forward to enjoying them again this year but not a single one survived the winter. I am very disappointed and contacted PW and their warranty doesn’t cover wintering over. I’m out all the work and money involved in planting them and I was really looking forward to enjoying them this season. I would not recommend and am not planting again.

I'm extremely picky about yellow. Yellow is very important in a cottage garden chock full of pinks, purples and whites- but finding a good yellow, the right yellow, is an arduous task. These are just right. Soft, pale, like whipped butter and sugar with rich yellow centers. They look fantastic with purple, especially catmints. I have them paired with Neptune catmint as they bloom at the same time. Oh yes. Fantastic. In my zone 6a, they take full sun from 9 am until the sun goes down. They do not care. After their first year I stopped watering them (though they are mulched). They do not care. They get compost twice a season, once in the spring and then again in the end of July. The only downside is that you need to keep them deadheaded as their spent blooms are not the greatest looking. But they've been blooming for a week and a half and I've yet to have to do that. Pest free, stress free. Pair these with salvias, cat mints and coneflowers for a self sufficient sun garden.

Plant cannot tolerate any sort of heat in the sun. Definitely a shade plant if you live anywhere that gets above 85 degrees in the spring or summer, which means you will probably sacrifice blooms. PW states you should probably provide afternoon shade in the south but I don’t even think this would help. Plant starts getting sun at 10a and by 12p it’s wilted almost to the point of death! This even occurred after we received a cool front and the high was in the high 70s! I have to water it even more than my hydrangeas only for it to look like lettuce left out in the sun. Sadly, I will most likely pull them out next spring.
