Professional Growing Information I have one of these beauties in my shrub bed. We are in zone 6. It is around 12 feet tall! We need to trim it back a bit. Not sure where the 48-60" height comment comes from!

Sugar Tip® Gold rose of Sharon is just as easy to grow and maintenance free as other varieties of this summer blooming favorite, but instead of plain foliage, its leaves are edged in a bright, cheerful gold. These keep the plant colorful and interesting in spring, then come summer, the playful foliage is accompanied by doubled purple flowers. As an added bonus, this plant creates far fewer seed than conventional varieties so won't make a nuisance of itself. Available in better garden centers in spring 2019.

Maintenance Notes:Rose of Sharon needs little to no care special care. A 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch is always a good idea. Rose of Sharon typically needs tlittle to no pruning, but if you wish to prune it, do so in early spring. Fertilize in early spring with a granular fertilizer formulated for woody plants, like a rose fertilizer.
Like most variegated plants, occasional reversions to the original green form may occur. These should be pruned out as needed.

Shrub sizes apply to the north only. Here in zone 9b shrubs don't freeze to the ground and some don't lose their leaves. I have had this shrub for a few years and it is 10 ft tall. I forgot that it blooms on new wood so this spring I will top it. The best thing about this shrub is that it doesn't set seed which causes hanging limbs and seedlings. I also appreciate the columnar habit. I use it as a privacy block. It is a well behaved shrub that requires little care.

I'm so glad to find this on the Proven winners website. I've had one shrub for years and wanted to plant more but forgot where I bought it. The varigated leaves make it beautiful even without the flowers
